σκιά shadow (singular nominative neuter)

For speech is the shadow of work.
For speech is the shadow of a deed.

8. λύπης ἰατρός ἐστιν ἀνθρώποις χρόνος.

of pain healer is to/for/by/with human beings time

λύπης of pain (singular genitive feminine)
ἰατρός physician/healer (singular masculine nominative)
ἐστιν he, she, it is (present indicative, third person singular; cf. Lesson 12)
ἀνθρώποις to/for/by/with human beings/men (plural dative masculine)

Time is the healer of pain for human beings.

Two notes:

1. I had a problem getting the circumflex over η and υ. They kept showing up as question marks on Mozilla's browser. Safari seems to be able to read the circumflex over these letters.

2. I seem to remember that "of life" (tou biou, genitive singular of ho bios) is in medial position. I need to look this up. And I'm not sure if you would call it double or triple medial position, if indeed it is in medial positio -- meaning, I think, that it is written once but is referred to more than once and is grammatically necessary if the translation's going to work.
